Why Stay in La Isleta, Las Palmas?

La Isleta is the peninsula at the northern end of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, between the harbour and Las Canteras Beach. It is where people live rather than where tour buses stop โ€” and that difference shapes the whole stay.

A residential neighbourhood, not a resort strip

The streets of La Isleta are low-rise, narrow and residential. Neighbours know each other, small shops open early, and the evening noise is conversation rather than nightlife. If you have stayed in the resort areas in the south of Gran Canaria, the contrast is immediate: this is an ordinary Canarian district that happens to sit minutes from a famous beach.

Mahalo Holiday House is a private independent house on Calle Tanausu โ€” no shared entrance, no reception, no corridors. Your group has the ground floor, the first floor and the rooftop terrace.

Everything within walking distance

Las Canteras Beach is approximately ten minutes on foot. Castillo de La Luz, the sixteenth-century fortress that guarded the harbour, is approximately three minutes away. The SPAR supermarket is just around the corner, which matters more than it sounds when you are cooking for a group.

From the same base you can reach the city centre, the port and the beach promenade without needing a car for daily life.

Who it suits

Families who want a whole house, groups of friends travelling together, surfers who would rather walk to the water than drive to it, and teams or employees on longer stays who need a calm place to come back to at the end of the day.
